The Puskás Aréna will host the Champions League game between Liverpool and RB Leipzig on 16 February. The match could not be played in Germany as the authorities there have closed the borders to visitors from the UK due to the latest Covid variant.

English champions Liverpool are coming to Budapest on 16 February. Unable to play their Champions League opponents in Germany, the Reds take on RB Leipzig at the Puskás Aréna.

The game is almost certain to be played behind closed doors, meaning that local fans will not be able to see three key Hungarian international players, Péter Gulácsi, Willi Orbán and Dominik Szoboszlai, appear in the colours of RB Leipzig.

This will be the second prestigious international fixture to be played in Hungary’s national stadium, after the UEFA Super Cup here last September between Bayern Munich and Sevilla.
