Song Factory Budapest is no stranger to WeLoveBudapest. The young adult choir has performed all around the city, singing popular Hungarian and international arrangements. Now they’ve released their first professional music video, featuring Bagossy Brothers Company’s recent hit 'Olyan Ő,' and within the first day of publishing, the band had already reposted the video on their Facebook page.
Olyan Ő is a love song – but not a sappy one. The title loosely translates as “He/She is like that”, and it tells of the push-and-pull of a first attraction: meeting a new person, learning the good (and the bad), and liking each other regardless.
Song Factory Budapest has been rehearsing in masks for the past weeks, until the recent restrictions banned all meetings of any sort. They finished filming the video only days before the announcement was made. Now, all the rehearsals are done online, to ensure the group continues singing and practising despite the coronavirus, so they are ready to perform when life returns to the old normal.
The audio was recorded at a professional studio in District VIII, Origo, where members met in groups of five or six to record safely. Sound designer Cserny 'Bogi' Kálmán oversaw the recording and mixing. Benedek Hetei-Bakó – a graduate of ELTE and also the director of the choir – wrote the arrangement, and the video was produced and edited by Gretchen Kessler.
The original song is the work of the popular Hungarian group Bagossy Brothers Company, which won the Phonogram Award for Sound Recording of the Year in 2020. Bagossy Brothers Company is made up five members, and was formed in May 2013 in Gyergyószentmiklós. In their first year they performed around Transylvania, and were soon being heard on Transylvanian and Hungarian radio. To date the band has released four studio albums. In fact, the video has already been noticed by Bagossy Brothers Company themselves – the group shared the video to their own social media page, urging viewers to "listen to it with the volume turned up to 8."
Song Factory Budapest hopes to release more music videos in the near future, already making plans for the new Christmas songs they are learning, including the English classic Sleigh Ride, and another Bagossy Brothers Company addition, Esti ének. The group has been featured on WeLoveBudapest before, thanks to their performances at the annual Winter Night of Choirs, and their special "quarantine video" in March, featuring Panic! at the Disco's High Hopes.
