Kamra Csemege is a family business involving local resident, Gábor and friends, who wanted to offer something new and different in Hűvösvölgy compared to the standard supermarkets that dot the area, and to procure and offer products not so available elsewhere.
The location has been home to businesses of similar profile that haven’t managed to take off. Here, the most important aspect is quality. On the one hand, there are goods by small-batch and primary producers, selected wines, artisanal beers, smoked meats and sausages by Békési Finomságok, Kaldenekker jams, artisanal cheeses from Debrecen, chili sauces produced nearby, pickles and cordials from Vecsés – and, on the other hand, premium products by larger brands, such as limited editions of Coca-Cola and herbal drink.
Fruit and vegetables come from reliable sources. Gábor is responsible for the latter, with decades of experience in the vegetable business, at markets on Fővám tér, Fehérvári út and Rákóczi tér, building a reliable supply chain of kitchen gardeners and small-batch family producers. He knows them personally, and although he procures their goods from through wholesalers, he knows where the fruit and vegetables come from and that quality can be assured.
Locally sourced delicacies also find their way into the sandwiches (such as the sausage, plum jam and onion jam combination, as well as the Serrano ham and cheese), salads (700-800 HUF), and fruit and vegetable creations like honey-dripped melon, and sliced carrot and cucumber. Smoothies are also made on request, depending on the season, just as the fruit in the yoghurt mini-bowl are constantly changing, now raspberries are followed by peaches.
They have also embellished the shop’s façade, decorating it with carefully selected rustic antiques. Here you can relax on the terrace with your medium light roasted, 100% arabica specialty Perla coffee. Well-chosen wines should soon be available by the glass – currently they only come by the bottle, with cosy tastings also planned.
