From Thursday, 6 August, Budapest busiest tram line, the 4/6 along the Grand Boulevard, will reopen after major renovation works. Tram 4 can now run along the full extent of its route, while tram 6 will be closed for part of its own section in Buda until the end of August.
Passengers along the tram line 4/6, one of the busiest in the world, will finally be rid of the cumbersome bus replacement services, as 6 August – at 4am – will see the end of construction works. However, the operation is not completely over with yet on the 6 line. At the junction of Irinyi József utca and Karinthy Frigyes út, additional track renovation works are being still carried out. Therefore, instead of tram 6, a replacement bus will continue to run until 28 August on the section between Petőfi Bridge, the Buda bridgehead and Móricz Zsigmond körtér.
