Given the measures now in place to combat the spread of the coronavirus, Budapest Transport Company (BKK) are closing all their customer service centres at major points around town. Tickets can still be bought at vending machines, certain station offices and newsstands. With all schools closed, holiday timetables are now in operation, with around 10% fewer services.
From today, 19 March, until further notice, all Budapest Transport Company (BKK) customer service centres are closing, leaving ticket distribution to the 370 automatic vending machines, 14 sales points behind glass at stations such Blaha Lujza tér and Nyugati, and newsstands.
As school pupils and students make up 35% of the travelling public, and with the majority of workers now based at home, a holiday timetable is currently in operation.
