At Budapest’s beautiful Citadella, not only you can enjoy the unparalleled panorama, but now also Hungarian craft beers and wine thanks to the newly opened 1xfent.

The top of Gellért Hill is a must-see attraction in Budapest and, at the same time, the perfect place to see Budapest from. As the whole city stretches by the feet of Lady Liberty, the panorama is unparalleled and totally worth the climb, which is about 20 minutes from the bottom. Once at the top, you can now reward yourself with tasty Hungarian craft beers and wine, thanks to a bar set up here for the summer season, 1xfent.

1xfent was inspired by botellón parties – when people come together in public areas to socialise while sharing a few drinks – that used to be held at Citadella about twice a year. The bar was designed by Budapest’s famed woodwork masters Hello Wood and what we really like about it is that it doesn’t try to take the limelight away from the panorama. The amazing view should still be the number one reason you come here – but once you’re here, a beer or two or a glass of wine comes in handy.

The selection includes bottles by the hübris brewery, pils, APA, IPA and wheat beer (all 950 HUF), lager and pils on tap (700 HUF), wines from Bortársaság, as well as an impressive assortment of spirits. The glasses, although not reusable as washing up isn’t possible atop the hill, are made of compostable plastic.

1xfent plans to host live acoustic music on Thursdays, while on Sundays sunset lunches will take place. However, as the bar is open every day, nothing should stop you making your way high up above the city any time.
