Running all the way from Óbuda to Kelenföld via the outer ring road, tram 1 is the second longest in the city, extending for over 18 kilometres.
From its northern terminus way up in Óbuda, past Budapest’s former Roman encampment, it calls at Árpád híd then whizzes through Zugló, past the national Puskás Ferenc Stadion, before serving south Pest, Népliget and Közvágóhíd, near Müpa, and ending in south Buda.
The new section starts in the middle of Etele út, and then turns left, crossing Somogyi út to the new terminus at Etele tér, right in front of Kelenföld station. The track is grassy, sometimes dotted with little trees, a pleasant green respite from the residential blocks that line Etele út.
