On Saturday, 20 July, the Zugliget Chairlift will be running after dark for one special night. Whisking passengers up János Hill, the highest point in Budapest, the Chairlift provides spectacular views of the Buda surroundings, and sneak peeks over people’s gardens. Tickets for this magical starlit ride have just gone on sale – here’s how to get yours.

Gliding for nearly a kilometre, the Chairlift takes passengers up János Hill in about 15 minutes. On 20 July, it will operate between 7pm and 1am, with the last entry half an hour before closing.

On the night, special buses will regularly shuttle between Clark Ádám tér and the Chairlift terminus – city bus 291 from Nyugati station and the R158 direct from Széll Kálmán tér are also good options.

Tickets for the Chairlift cost 2,000 forints return, and can only be purchased in advance from the Zugliget terminus during the opening hours of 10am to 7pm. More details (in Hungarian).
