Gentry Coffee&Brunch stands out from Budapest’s busy breakfast scene by serving as many homemade treats as possible. They stuff their own sausages, bake their own pastries and make kombucha tea, juices and inventive egg dishes on the spot. Specialty coffee also makes any brunch or lazy lunch here a real pleasure.

The design is simple yet sophisticated. Bar tables are ideal for a quick coffee, while a more cosy seating area in the basement provides a homely space for a lazy brunch.

The menu is exciting, offering poached eggs with potatoes and pearl onions (1,650 forints), as well as croissants filled with homemade duck breast ham, pecan nuts and ginger or cooked ham, spinach and salty lemon (each 950 forints).

Sweet-toothed guests can order pancakes with chestnut honey, butter and lime (1,350 forints), homemade granola (1,350 forints) or carrot cake (550 forints) and various tarts (550 forints). A vegetarian lunch menu – with optional meaty toppings – is served every day (1,350 forints plus 550 forints).

As far as drinks go, specialty coffee and craft beers each help to give breakfast a zing or a kick. The selection changes seasonally.
