Budapest's breakfast scene has something for every appetite and budget. While the city is full of stylish brunch spots, you don't have to spend a fortune to start the day well. We've rounded up five of our favourite cafés and bakeries where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and a coffee for less than HUF 6,000 per person.

The Goat Herder

With three locations across Budapest, The Goat Herder has become one of the city's go-to spots for speciality coffee and quality breakfasts. With its cosy atmosphere and friendly service, it's the kind of place you'll want to return to again and again. One of its biggest perks is the all-day breakfast menu, so there's no need to rush out the door first thing in the morning. Whether you're in the mood for a buttery croissant, creamy bircher muesli, avocado toast, banana bread, a refreshing açai bowl or a glass of freshly pressed seasonal juice, you'll find plenty of delicious options to pair with your coffee.

San Ramon Caffee & Bar

If you're looking for a relaxed breakfast spot away from the city centre, San Ramon Caffee & Bar on Tompa Street is well worth the detour. During the warmer months, its terrace is a lovely place to ease into the day over a leisurely breakfast and a good cup of coffee. The menu covers everything from classic egg dishes and omelettes to bagels, breakfast burritos and pancakes, with most options priced between HUF 2,500 and 4,500. If you're in the mood to treat yourself, the Eggs Benedict (HUF 4,390) is one of the highlights, while adding a cappuccino still keeps your breakfast comfortably under the HUF 6,000 mark.

Bageri Bakery

Located on Ráday Street, Bageri Bakery is one of those places you'll want to return to, whether it's for a quick coffee or a leisurely breakfast. Alongside freshly baked pastries, you'll find sourdough sandwiches, fresh orange juice and excellent coffee. Our recommendation? The pistachio bun - the perfect choice if you're after something sweet before balancing it out with one of their savoury sandwiches.

Aranypinty

Stepping into Aranypinty feels a little like travelling back in time. From vintage tableware and antique-inspired décor to beautifully presented dishes, every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to create a cosy atmosphere that invites you to slow down. If you're after something simple, it's hard to beat the French breakfast, which comes with buttery croissants, jam, butter and a hot drink. Their flaky croissants are excellent on their own, too, while egg dishes and sandwiches mean there's plenty to choose from if you're feeling hungrier. Even with a speciality coffee, it's easy to keep your bill below the HUF 6,000 mark.
