Mr. Funk has just dropped a new calorie bomb on Budapest. For the summer months, the city’s designer doughnut palace wraps ice cream into soft candyfloss and crowns this hedonists’ fantasy with half a doughnut on request. The aptly named Unicorn is available in many varieties, including with popcorn or Oreo pieces. Voilà, you’ve got your sweetest Instagram story for summer.

From offering scrumptious fried Snickers to creamy bubble waffles, Budapest knows no boundaries when it comes to innovative desserts. Sugary creations appear in the most unusual shapes and forms to provide a feast for the taste buds and eyes. Most recently, doughnut haven Mr. Funk has been serving summer treats with a twist.

For this new sweet, ice cream is scooped into a cone and then coated with cotton candy, and sprinkled with marshmallows or chocolate chips. Topping the oversized delicacy with a piece of doughnut is just the cherry on the cake; this edible work of art costs around 2,000 forints.

Mr. Funk has been known for their unconventional creations since the shop opened in 2016. The place’s signature round-shaped fried cakes feature creative designs and names – Mr. Panda is made with white chocolate and Oreo cream, while Mr. Minion comes with vanilla and banana cream. Then there’s also Mr. Happy Poo, a disturbingly appetizing delight.

Bagels with savory fillings, monster-sized doughnut shakes and ice cream with cinnamon and plum or Nutella with coconut also feature.
