Christmas without “Home Alone” and “Love Actually” would just not be the same. Fortunately, over the holidays – between 22 and 27 December – the high-end Corinthia Hotel screens classic Christmas flicks in its impressive ballroom imbued with cinematic history. In the afternoons, little ones can enjoy lighthearted movies while after sunset, mulled wine and gingerbread make the evening screenings even merrier. All movies play with original audio.

The Holiday, Frozen, the whole Home Alone saga, Polar Express, Love Actually any many other Christmas classics screen at the beautiful ballroom of the Corinthia Hotel over the Christmas period. Admission of 2,000 forints includes a soft drink and large popcorn, children under 12 (1,000 forints) getting a small drink and a small popcorn. For hotel guests, entry is free, but reservations are recommended.

This beautiful Grand Boulevard building has always housed a hotel, and guards a history stretching back 122 years. The hotel opened in 1896 and thanks to the Lumière brothers, film screenings in the coffeehouse took place from the beginning. Then in 1915, converted from the hotel's stunning ballroom, the Royal Apollo Film Theatre opened, screening the major films of the day. Every premiere here was a social event, ladies and gentlemen arriving for the evening screenings in suits and elegant dresses, often staying for dinner afterwards. The cinema operated until 1996, but under a different name after World War II.

Watching a film at this historic ballroom is quite an experience, so make sure you get your tickets in time. See the full schedule and more details here.
