Popular Budapest fast-food chain Zing have just introduced a new type of burger aimed at helping the homeless. Joining forces with prominent NGO the Budapest Bike Maffia, the eatery will be donating a hefty snack for every purchase of its special new Zing burger. A play on “let’s do a good deed” and “let’s eat good food”, “TEgyünk jót” combines double bacon, Emmental cheese, barbecue sauce, fried onions and labneh – plus a large helping of seasonal goodwill.

Eating a burger in Budapest can now feed one more person. A new initiative by Zing and the Budapest Bike Maffia should prompt customers to order the chain’s newly introduced charity burger “TEgyünk jót” (1,790 forints) to support those in need.

For every sale of this recently introduced snack, Zing donates one Street Burger – made with chili mayo, caramelised onions, a beef patty, cheddar, ketchup, mustard and pickles – to someone in poverty. The food is then delivered to the needy by the Budapest Bike Maffia.

The campaign runs until 18 December and a tablet placed in the Zing shops shows the number of burgers raised for the cause. Real-time counting also appears on the company website.

This is not the first time that Zing Burger have supported good cause. Last year before Christmas, the brand’s street-food van visited ten orphanages to distribute their signature treats to children.

Established by young cyclists in 2011, the Budapest Bike Maffia have been increasingly active in helping underprivileged members of society. This rapidly growing organisation carries out innovative volunteer work to assist people in need through promotions based on fund raising and the distribution of donations.

Another current project involving the cycling team is encouraging people to donate any old bikes no longer in use. Budapest Bike Maffia have committed to help refurbish them and then deliver to people who can’t afford to buy one. This donation programme of two wheelers will be running until 20 December.
