The upgraded map shows one-way streets and designated biking zones that are safe for pedalling. Available in a web format, within the BKK Futár app, or in print at the BKK customer service points, this new feature signals the increasing number of travellers who select cycling for their commute.

BKK has announced earlier this year that bikes would be allowed to be transported on designated cars along the metro line 4, where each station is fitted with lifts. In addition, HÉV suburban railway lines and their replacement buses, a select number of regular buses (65, 65A and 165, trolley 77), certain trams (56, 56A, 59, 59A, 59B, 61 and 60, the cogwheel railway), as well as boat lines D11, D12 and D14, are also suitable for carrying cycles.

Biking is a popular way to discover Budapest. The MOL Bubi bicycle-sharing network organises numerous docking stations citywide for visitors to grab a two-wheeler and ride. Meanwhile, several tour companies offer enjoyable guided rides around main city attractions and tours beyond prominent landmarks.
