According to Budapest Airport management, seven new flight developments will premiere at this growing air hub before spring of 2019. Along with the eagerly anticipated debut of service with London City announced this summer by LOT Polish Airlines to begin on February 19th, Wizz Air adds their direct link with Doncaster on October 29th, while Ryanair will offer BUD flights with Amman in Jordan on October 28th and with Marseille on October 30th. Accommodating the increasing number of Budapest visitors from England, easyJet launches direct connections with London Southend on November 2nd and Manchester on November 5th. Wizz Air also commences twice-weekly service with Eilat Ovda in southern Israel on November 9th.
To meet technical requirements for the relatively short runway and steep approach angle of London City – the most central airport serving Britain’s capital – LOT is ordering four new Embraer E-190s with seating capacity of 106 for this new BUD route operating 12 times weekly. Every weekday, flights are planned to depart Budapest at 7am to arrive at London City at 8:45am, and also depart LCY at 7:30pm to reach BUD at 11pm, so London business trips with no overnight stay can be more easily arranged from the Magyar metropolis beginning in mid-February.
These developments bolster an ongoing period of flourishing expansion for Budapest Airport – this month, management reported that BUD welcomed 1,512,923 passengers in its terminals during July 2018, a traffic increase of 13.8% compared to the same period last year.
