4pm - 9am: Kolorádó Festival at Nagykovácsi
If you're after some chilled-out fun this weekend, you can join the last three days of this alfresco festival. Hidden away in a big forest, where Budapest meets mother nature, Kolorádó welcomes mellow merrymakers with an international line-up of acts and plenty of offbeat entertainment.
7:30pm - : In This Moment at Akvárium Klub (x)
One of the most popular American metal bands in recent years, In This Moment will be performing at the Akvárium Klub on Friday. The band’s shows are extremely popular everywhere they go thanks to the charismatic stage presence of singer Maria Brink. ITM will be presenting their latest album, Ritual.
8pm - : World Cup at various venues
Football fever is now gripping the globe, with World Cup matches several times a day through most of June and early July, until the the big final on the 15th. The pick of this weekend's games is Spain against Iberian rivals and European champions Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo facing some of his Real Madrid team-mates. 10pm - : Cocoon Budapest w/ Extrawelt live + Ilario Alicante at Bálna Budapest
Legendary Cocoon finally conquers Budapest. In 1999, German DJ Sven Väth launched his iconic party series in Ibiza with only one aim in mind: to take techno to the island. Its success led to this record label of the same name. Over the past years, Cocoon has travelled the world and now takes over Budapest, at a unique riverside venue that never hosted electronic music events before, Bálna.
10pm - 4am: Upment! Open Air - All Night Breakbeat at Valyo Kikötő
A free open-air Friday night bash shakes up the Valyo Kikötő, Budapest's newest riverside party place. Breakbeat fills the air while delicious drinks put you in the mood.
Saturday
9am – 1pm: Rákóczi Breakfast at the Rákóczi tér Market Hall
Start your Saturday with a great community breakfast. All the necessary tools – chopping boards, cutlery, glasses, furniture – will be provided by organisers Mindspace, but the ingredients are down to you. When you arrive, head to their table outside Spar, check what is missing and contribute with a little something. There will be music and a great atmosphere. Feel free to join.
10am - 6pm: Children's Island at Óbuda Island
Concerts, slackline, arts and crafts activities, puppet shows, playhouses, a petting zoo, a climbing wall, trampolines and endless kinds of fun-filled games; every Saturday and Sunday between June 2nd and 24th, Óbuda Island – the site of Budapest’s annual Sziget Festival – turns into an immense playground for adults and children alike. Entry is free for all.
2pm - 10pm: Champagne Tasting at the Corinthia Hotel
On Saturday, the elegant Corinthia Hotel hosts the biggest champagne tasting event of the year. You can sample more than 200 kinds of champagnes, cavas, crémants and proseccos, for the price of just one ticket.
2pm – 4pm: Street Art Tour at Dohány Street Synagogue
Every summer, local and international artists flock to Budapest to beautify drab walls around town with mesmerising murals within the framework of the Színes Város Festival. On Saturday, its curator is laying on a tour that will reveal 18 different murals, six of which will be gone by the end of the season. After finding out about the history and background of each oversized work, you can finish off with a free drink at top restaurant Dobrumba.
9pm - 4am: Raqpart 5th Birthday at raqpart
A popular summer hangout, Raqpart by the foot of the Chain Bridge celebrates its fifth birthday on Saturday. Be there and clink your glasses for a main sponsor of sweet summer nights.
Sunday
10am - 1pm: International Yoga Day at Margaret Island
As International Yoga Day falls on a workday this year, its celebration in Budapest will take place on Sunday to leave more time for relaxation. Anyone can join to enjoy 108 sun salutations, an ashtanga practice and a tai chi class.
6pm - 10pm: Body Count feat. Ice-T at Budapest Park
The legendary metal band of Ice-T, Body Count, are coming to Hungary on Friday after almost 25 years. Since their last Budapest gig in 1997, the LA band has seen members come and go, some no longer with us, but they still managed to earn a nomination for a Grammy award this year.
6pm - 7:45pm: When Harry Met Sally at the Bem Cinema
When Harry met Sally back in '89, scriptwriter Nora Ephron kicked off the rom-com renaissance of the 1990s, setting the trend for similar features to follow. If you wish to relive the amorous adventures of this cute couple – or looking to earn extra brownie points – book your tickets to Bem and see how Harry met his destiny. 7:30pm - 8:30pm: Dancing in the Square at the St. Stephen's Basilica
If you happen to be around St. Stephen's Basilica on Sunday evening, stop by to enjoy a truly special experience. Hungarian composer Iván Fischer and the Hungarian Festival Orchestra give a free open-air concert full of surprises. But the main attraction will be the more than 500 little children – some severely disadvantaged – dancing together to Brahms' Hungarian Dance.
8pm - 11pm: Arcade Fire at Papp László Budapest Sportaréna
One of the most popular and critically acclaimed indie and art rock bands, Arcade Fire will play in Hungary for the first time on Sunday, taking their latest album, Everything Now, on tour.
