Friday

9am - 8pm: Bach in the Subways in Budapest

Between March 21st and 25th, free concerts fill metro stations, churches, concert halls, squares and other unexpected public spaces in Budapest. As part of the global event series “Bach in the Subways”, outstanding ensembles honor the memory of Johann Sebastian Bach with free concerts. More details

10am - 9pm: Budapest Spring Fair Opening at Vörösmarty Square

On Friday, Budapest’s central Vörösmarty Square fills with stands and stalls crammed with hundreds of handcrafted Hungarian products for the Budapest Spring Fair. Besides the traditional and modern folk-art displays, visitors can sample local flavors prepared on-site, while cultural and artisanal events, folk music and folk dance shows also entertain crowds. 2pm - 8pm: DOT For You Apartment Sale at Klauzál Square 7.

DOT For You is a Hungarian brand that makes lovely notebooks, calendars and journals with a truly unique design. Those that have a few beauty flaws – from both old and new collections – will be on offer with great discounts at this apartment sale on Friday.

11:30pm - 5am: Wannabe XXL– Best of 90'S + 00's at Akvárium

Those who want to surf the wave of nostalgia for the ’90s and who might like to zig-a-zig-ah can venture into the pop goldmine of the Akvárium Klub on Friday night. Dance late into the night to the hottest and most awkward hits of Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Girls Aloud that you all secretly love.

11:30pm - 5am: Budapest Trap Squad Spring Edition at A38

Board the ship-based A38 for a rocking party on Friday. Every month, the Budapest Trap Squad gathers the city’s best DJs who spin discs all night below decks. Trap, riddim, dubstep, bass house and everything from the top charts are featured in the lineup.

Saturday

6am - 8pm: Milán Radisics: "From Water From Air" at the Gellért Baths

The Gellért Baths celebrate their centenary this year. Between plunges at this beautiful landmark, you can see the free exhibition that showcases pictures presenting the Gellért from above and below, inside and outside, and from the water and the air. Hungarian photographer Milán Radisics captures the gargoyles, the dome, and the ancient spring of the baths, all in tiny detail.

8am - 2pm: Czakó Farmer's Market Birthday at Czakó Kert

This friendly farmers’ market celebrates its first birthday this Saturday. Every week, the Czakó Market awaits visitors in the lovely garden of an old Hungarian peasant house, bringing the atmosphere of the countryside to Budapest. Stalls offer organic products, vegetables, eggs, mouthwatering meats, handcrafted cheeses, wild mushrooms and countless unique specialties that are not available elsewhere in the capital. During the market, lamb ragout soup with tarragon and matzo balls will be prepared from fresh ingredients.

10am - 5pm: Enchanted Island Exhibition and Game at the Vajdahunyad Castle

On Saturday, an exciting child-friendly exhibition opens at the fairytale-like Vajdahunyad Castle and will be on view until mid-May. Upon arriving, you find yourself on an imaginary tropical island that takes you on a magical adventure, testing your courage and dexterity alike. More details (in Hungarian)

11am - 7pm: WAMP x Heinrich at the Heinrich Courtyard

WAMP is a regularcommunity event and design fair, a meeting spot for creative and trendsetting young talents. For this event, 22 local designers showcase their limited-edition collections offering clothes, jewelry, bags and other accessories, while art and music also grab visitors’ attention. Noon - 7pm: Dog-friendly Day at Szimpla Kert

Mingle with other dog lovers and get presents for your four-legged friend at this dog-friendly market. As this day is all about cute canines, Kazinczy Street will be turned into a car-free promenade between Dohány Street and Wesselényi Street, where various activities and dog-friendly events await visitors. Sunday

9am-2pm: Pancs Farmers’ Market at Élesztőház

This weekly market – enhanced with a homely Hungarian ambience – features various gastronomic demonstrations and entertainment performances to accompany the culinary jamboree. Up-and-coming vendors offer handmade delicacies such as tasty vegan dips, cream cheese and scrumptious vegan cakes, as well as artisanal sausages and aromatic smoked meat for the carnivorous, and endless kinds of edible treats.

3pm and 7pm: Recirquel Contemporary Circus Company: Paris de Nuit at the Palace of Arts
This vibrant performance takes the audience to the decadent but delightful world of Paris during the 1930s, and unveils the marginal lives of prostitutes, peddlers and secret lovers. Stunning circus artists, musicians and dancers evoke the lusty atmosphere of bygone Paris nights, providing a firsthand experience to the audience seated on and around the stage. A must-see!

7pm - 9pm: Forrest Gump at the Bem Cinema

Forrest Gump's mama taught everyone a lot of life lessons back in the '90s. Freshen up your memory and watch this charming classic again with original English audio and Hungarian subtitles this Sunday.
