Hungary’s second city, Debrecen sits in the east of the country, close to the spa destination of Hajdúszoboszló and the watery activities around Lake Tisza. Winter lends Debrecen and surrounding area a special charm, with steam rising from the baths of Hajdúszoboszló and snowy walks around Lake Tisza. The historic and cultural attractions of Debrecen remain open and ideally suited to a city-break weekend.

A new English-friendly video, created by the Hungarian Tourism Agency and provided to We Love Budapest, highlight the splendor of Debrecen, Hajdúszoboszló & Lake Tisza in winter.

Starting with a visit to the Aqua Palace Adventure Baths in Hajdúszoboszló, the film then takes us around Debrecen, around the key sights of the Great Church and Déri Museum.

From there, we go to nearby Lake Tisza for winter walks and the tourist attraction of the Ecocenter in Poroszló.

How to get there from Budapest:Trains leave Nyugati Station every two hours for Debrecen, journey time 2hrs 40min. For Hajdúszoboszló, journey time for regular services from Nyugati is 2hrs 20min.
