How to get there from Budapest: by car, take motorway M3 east from Budapest (make sure to buy a motorway pass), and continue east until reaching exit 151, which takes you toward Miskolc on motorway M30. Continue following motorway M30 northbound until reaching the juncture with main road 3, and follow main road 3 toward Tornyosnémeti and main road E71, taking the first right at the first roundabout you encounter, and the second right at the second roundabout you encounter. Continue following main road 3/E71 towards Tornyosnémeti until reaching the right-side turnoff onto main road 39 towards Encs, and pass through Encs on this road until reaching the first left-hand turn at the entrance to the village of Abaújkér (just past the train tracks) and turn left onto Kassai Street toward the village of Gönc. Continue following this road north until reaching the right-hand turn at the sign pointing toward Boldogkőváralja, and follow this road until reaching the Boldogkőváralja boundary, where the first left-hand turn takes you directly to the castle grounds.
