In the English-subtitled video below, provided to We Love Budapest by the Hungarian Tourism Agency as part of their “Hungary Awaits You” campaign to showcase he wide assortment of attractions to discover across the country, we can admire fascinating drone footage of the Globe Observatory – the peak attraction of Lake Balaton’s south-shore holiday haven of Balatonboglár – and learn about other recreational activities to enjoy nearby:
For more details about the Globe Observatory (called the “Gömbkilátó” in Hungarian), as well as the other sights of Balatonboglár, check out the English-language info provided by our sister website, WeLoveBalaton.hu – and keep reading We Love Budapest for more installments of our “Reel Hungary Videos” series, coming soon!
How to get there from Budapest: by car, follow motorway M7 west from Budapest (check this article for more specific directions for getting to Lake Balaton from Budapest) and remain on this road along Balaton’s south shore until reaching the Balatonboglár exit (look for the sign marked “143/Lengyeltóti/Balatonboglár”), and turn right after leaving the motorway. Continue straight ahead on Zrínyi Street into central Balatonboglár, and keep driving straight through the intersection as Zrínyi Street turns into Árpád Street. After following Árpád Street about 200 meters, the parking lot for the Globe Observatory is on the right side of the street (look for the “Gömbkilátó” sign). Alternatively, direct train service connects Budapest with Balatonboglár multiple times daily; see the official website for Hungary’s MÁV railway service for more details.
