An intriguing exhibition recently opened at Duna Plaza, which at first glance may only seem like a few small empty platforms scattered around the shopping mall – but these displays actually showcase a wealth of information about several endangered species, which can be viewed with a smartphone or a tablet. After downloading an application, the animal adventure begins: the app allows us to admire the “exhibited” animals in 3D. Organized by WWF Hungary, the exhibit complements the mall’s Panda Shop, where we can buy cute stuffed animals as a way of contributing towards a good cause.

Through November 20th, Duna Plaza is hosting this special virtual zoo, a truly innovative and entertaining exhibit that everyone who likes smart gadgets and virtual reality will enjoy, as the seemingly simple metal platforms only reveal the animals they showcase if we look at them through our smartphone. For this extraordinary experience, all we have to do is download an application that is available both in the AppStore and through Google Play.

Then, the amazing adventure begins: with the help of the application we can carefully observe ten species that are mostly only seen in documentaries in the plaza’s corridor (on the 1st and 2nd floor) for free, including polar bears, long-eared bats, and Eurasian lynxes.

"With this unusual exhibit, Duna Plaza would like to draw attention to those natural assets that are currently disappearing from Earth. The essence of this virtual exhibition – created jointly with the experts of WWF – is that anyone can approach the installations, without causing any damage, and can even take photos with those animals that paradoxically need to be protected from people. We hope that these extraordinary encounters will help create a more sensitive and more responsible connection between humans and nature,” said Zsombor Kovács, the junior marketing manager of Duna Plaza.

Meanwhile, Duna Plaza is presenting ways to support WWF at the pop-up Panda Shop on the ground floor. For every 5,000 forints that customers spend at Duna Plaza, if they bring the receipt to the Panda Shop, a 100-forint donation will be provided to WWF Hungary to further its mission of saving and preserving the lives and natural habitats of animals on the verge of extinction. What’s more, the Panda Shop offers an adorable assortment of stuffed-animal toys for sale, with these purchases also supporting WWF – providing an excellent incentive to get some holiday shopping done early this year.
