Agrupación Señor Serrano – “A House in Asia” at TrafóThree houses. Three identical houses. One in Asia – more precisely in Pakistan, where Bin Laden is hiding; its perfect replica is found at a military base in North Korea. The third is in Jordan at a film screening, and the fourth is on the stage. The biggest chase of history begins here. The theatrical language of Spain’s Agrupación Señor Serrano is truly special: the events that take place in scale models are recorded live, then cut and screened. The result of this recording can be seen at Trafó on October 21st and October 22nd. “A House in Asia” is a theatrical Western that mingles reality and its earthly copies, in order to bring to life a cruel pop portrait of the era portraying the 21st century, the times after 9/11. The performance is in English with Hungarian subtitles.

BalconyTV Budapest kicked off over two years ago to present some of the best shows online from the buzzing Hungarian music scene, and every autumn the bands of the previous season gather at Toldi Klub to give an amazing club concert outside the internet – this year’s lineup includes Soul Surge, The Immigrants, Kamikaze Scotsmen, Kállay Saunders Band, and Passed.Saturday
2pm - 6.30pm:
“I’m So Angry” Pop-up Museum at Szimpla KertAt certain times, under particular circumstances, people decide to overcome their fear and flood the streets.
The same thing happened in Hungary in 1956, in Prague and Paris in 1968, and in Leipzig, Gdansk, and Bucharest in 1989. The crowds were angry.
What makes YOU angry?
The “I’m So Angry” exhibition tells the story of people who were brave enough to act. Now, 60 years after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, this interactive event encourages urban dwellers to say what makes them take to the streets. Paint a banner with your own slogan and share your thoughts about demonstrations.
4pm - 10pm: Birthday Bash at Hunyadi HomebistroCelebrating the second birthday of Hunyadi Homebistro, the Zabáljcsak crew – known for their amazing barbecue specialties – invades the space to offer two types of their prime sandwiches to guests. 6pm - 11.30pm: American History X at Bem CinemaTony Kaye’s 1998 firecracker American History X is not just a powerful comment on modern society, but it also features an astounding performance by Edward Norton as Derek Vinyard, a neo-nazi who is sentenced to three years in prison for killing a black thief. While in jail, he acquires a different outlook on racism and hatred, while his younger brother Danny is eager to follow his footsteps… Frank and honest, even when it gets a bit preachy, American History X offers a compelling portrait of redemption and the destructive nature of racism. The movie screens with original English-language audio and Hungarian subtitles. Screening times: 6pm, 8.30pm 7pm - 11pm: Crocodiles, Dope Calypso, Skeemers at Dürer KertThe American band Crocodiles has existed in various incarnations since 2008, evolving from the original core of Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell into the five-piece we see today. Since 2006 he has appeared on stage with such stars as Bruce Springsteen, The Roots, Boyz II Men, Kenny Garrett, and the best-known names in gospel.
KNOWER (Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi) is a searing-hot music group from Los Angeles, spearheading a new musical movement as one of the most exciting formations of the current American-music scene. As Quincy Jones mentioned about KNOWER’s live performance, it “will be leavin’ ya’ll on your knees, beggin’ for more.” 7pm - 11pm: The Atomic Bitchwax, The Trousers, Burning Full Throttle at Dürer KertThe Atomic Bitchwax originated as the side project of Monster Magnet lead guitarist Ed Mundell, ex-Godspeed bassist and vocalist Chris Kosnik, and Monster Magnet’s drummer, Bob Pantella. The group’s high-octane, ’70s-based hard rock is infused with stabs of space rock and psychedelia that stuns retro-rock fans, even though Mundell is no longer in the band.
7pm - 11pm: Beck Zoli, Petruska, Zanzinger, András Upor, Duke Bluebeard, Papaver Cousins at A38 ShipSix outstanding singer-songwriters perform aboard the A38 Ship on Sunday night amid special visuals to honor the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 on the 60th anniversary of the uprising. The performers’ style ranges from the fingerstyle of Django Reinhardt to the Mississippi delta blues of Blind Lemon Jefferson. What’s more, Beck Zoli – the frontman of 30Y and one of the most prominent figures of the Hungarian alternative-music scene – rarely performs solo, making this occasion even more special.
