As you know by know, when it comes to Hungarian cafés and pubs, the ruin-epithet does not equal crumbling plaster walls and spider dynasties lurking in the corners. Szabó Tibor''s ruin café, Rengeteg RomKafé, is a nook where wonderful flavors are accompanied by friendly conversations and a nostalgia-inducing interior. On the flipside, there’s a sign warning you about “very slow food”, but on one hand, it’s worth the wait, and the other hand, why hurry? Slow down, relax, and let Rengeteg RomKafé’s vibe pull you in.

Artisan history

The nickname of the place (Míves 2.0, translates to Artisan2.0) refers to the café's previous location. Tibor ran Míves in Miskolc for four years before he changed locations and moved his business to Tűzoltó utca. He brought all his treasures and toys, along with the relaxed atmosphere he was probably born in. By meshing together his experience as a math teacher and current parent, Tibor came up with the idea of creating a refuge not just for adults, but for children, too.

This doesn't mean that you’ll have to sit still like a stone out of fear of knocking off a teddy bear or a wooden doll. Colorful chalks and delicate china live in harmony within the walls of Míves, not a single item feels out of place. For children, stepping inside probably feels like falling into the rabbit's hole - and for adults, like becoming kids again.Chemistry behind the bar

Rengeteg is so personal that Tibor himself recites the selection as if it were a poem – the main reason being the lack of a paper-based menu, which will soon be taken care of. Until then, Tibor will gladly inform you about the coffee-concoctions he’s capable of making, and will also suggest some extras to spice up your cup o’.

Prices are as friendly as

, and specialties such as cream cheese - cranberry flavored espresso and cinnamon-spiced cappuccino are available for a few hundred forints (370 plus 50-100 for the extra flavoring). When the weather channels its inner Minnesota, or if you happen to be a sailor with a sweet tooth, you shouldn’t miss out on a mug of hot chocolate with rum.Creative gratitude

Tibor runs the café all by himself twelve hours a day. He’s inspired and energized by the guests coming from a variety of countries who have at least one thing in common: they all greet Tibor as an old friend, showering him with heartfelt messages in the guestbook and surprising him with loveablegifts which are exhibited on the shelves and walls, serving as both pieces of decoration and materialized memories. Our favorites are the baby photos sent by couples whose love stories began at Míves. If you’re open for an easy chat while waiting for your order to arrive, you’ll be instantly enchanted by Rengeteg’s warm, welcoming vibe.
