When the weather is broiling in Budapest, all we want to do is head outside to have an alfresco get-together with friends; however, after awhile, even a spacious balcony just won’t do anymore, especially when we want to grill up some tasty meat together. Fortunately, there are lovely locales around town that are ready to have us over to hang out while cooking out and making our own meal. We recommend three pleasant places in Budapest for playing with fire.

1/3

Impostor Bar

Impostor already organized a BBQ session in the past, but they thought that it wasn’t so successful. Well, we think it is a pretty cool thing, especially amid such an amazing garden. On August 27th they give this cool grill session another go, providing two opportunities to guests: they can either bring their own ingredients to cook, or choose from grill plates put together especially for the occasion. It is required to check in ahead to make sure there is enough space for everyone. Drinks will be provided by Impostor, which means that guests can devour delicious sakés, special Japanese beers, and Asian-inspired cocktails to wash down the mouthwatering meals.

2/3

Két Rombusz

Forested Két Rombusz is found on the Római Shore, boasting several fire pits and a grill to encourage guests to make all kinds of BBQ meals here. They provide the wood and a stew pot, but visitors have to bring their own ingredients; however, it is a nice thing to buy the drinks from them in return for their hospitality. (Fortunately, their selection is pretty impressive.) Having a BBQ session at the Római Shore is truly special, especially because they have numerous fire pits, providing an opportunity to bond with other groups of friends, maybe even sharing some food.

3/3

KIFOLYÓ guerilla grill

As a joint effort by BETON and Valyo, concrete benches and spots suitable for grilling were established by the quay near Szent Gellért Square. This initiative aims to make the Danube more involved in the daily life of city dwellers, and it also provides a cool free spot for a buoyant urban BBQ. The view to the city and to the beautiful bridges over the Danube is unparalleled. All you have to do is follow the lovely little turtle to find these spots from the Buda quay near Liberty Bridge.
