For the third year in a row, Brain Bar Budapest – Europe’s biggest future-focused festival – is bringing many of the planet’s most innovative people to Hungary’s capital in June for enlightening lectures and stimulating debates. Now the lineup of speakers is enhanced with a sci-fi artist, an “eating designer”, a professor creating humanoid robots, and other mind-bending innovators.

The first Brain Bar Budapest was launched in June of 2015, with a goal of examining the boundaries between man and machine with the help of a diverse collection of world-renowned masterminds. During the third Brain Bar Budapest festival this year, we can listen to the lectures of a sci-fi artist, the planet’s first “eating designer”, and a professor who is creating humanoid robots, among the 40 innovators who will be featured in the biggest European festival focused on the future. Brain Bar Budapest will take place during 1-3 June at the Akvárium Klub, and the organizers expect more than 7,000 visitors to attend the event. The names of six new masterminds were revealed recently, all from different professional fields.

  • Ari Popper, leader of a team once called “the coolest company on Earth” – SciFutures, a California-based innovation house – uses a panel of 100 renowned sci-fi writers to accelerate innovation.
  • Lucy McRae, sci-fi artist, director, and body architect, is fascinated by the reciprocal relationship between humans and technology. She aims to bridge human imagination, science, and technology with intriguing multimedia art pieces.
  • Inna Braverman, co-founder of Eco Wave Power, a startup that generates clean energy from sea waves. Inna installed her first power plant at the age of 26 in Jaffa, Israel.
  • Tomotaka Takahashi, founder and CEO of Robo Garage and professor at the University of Tokyo. Tomotaka creates, designs, and invents unique humanoid robots.
  • Marije Vogelzang, the world’s first “eating designer”. After developing and selling two experimental restaurants in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, she now works on restaurant concepts and long-term medical projects for hospitals.
  • Köves Slomó, the descendant of several generations of rabbis, is one of the most active religious leaders in Central Europe. He is the founder of the first Hebrew-Hungarian bilingual kindergarten and elementary school in Budapest.
