Our weekly roundup for the upcoming weekend offers plenty of suggestions for where to go, what to do, and who must not be missed during the next three days. There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – exhibitions, parties, live music, festivals, performances, and more – but here is our pick of the bunch for the imminent 72 hours or so:

Friday

11am - 10.30pm: Anilogue International Animation Film Festival at multiple locationsBudapest’s biggest animation film festival welcomes guests with a wide selection of contemporary cartoon artistry from around the world during November 23-27. On Friday, Sébastien Laudenbach’s new feature screens that tells the story of a poor miller’s daughter, who is unintentionally sold to the devil in an attempt to prevent the starvation of the family (The Girl Without Hands). In addition, visitors to the festival can watch some of the best graduation films from the past 20 years selected by the National Film School of Denmark, alongside many other animated movies. The festival is complete with an abundance of accompanying events, including cool concerts and various workshops.

Noon - 6pm: Recycled Architecture exhibition at Trapéz Gallery View images of enticing edifices that transcended the roles imposed on them by their earlier functions and architectural design.

By opposing or forgetting their original purpose, they are now used to serve a new goal. The exhibition features works of talented Hungarian photographers, including Krisztina Erdei, Péter Puklus, Andi Schmied, and Lilla Szász.

7pm - 10pm:
Müskinn X ZINA
at ToldiMüskinn is a Budapest-based label for contemporary accessories that creates bags and conceptual collections. The brand has recently collaborated with ZINA (a Hungarian illustration and comic anthology) and came up with unique designs that depict various episodes of dystopias. Those who attend the event can admire this brand-new collection enhanced with playful graphics, while the presented items will be available for purchase, alongside posters by ZINA at Budapest’s Toldi Club.
8pm - 9.30pm: Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods – VIOLET at TrafóAn ensemble of five dancers embarks on a journey traversing the stage as if it was a mental landscape.

Perhaps the most abstract piece so far in Meg Stuart’s long-standing career, VIOLET bears her unique signature, an art that hones a frail “condition humaine” in its intense physical emergence. It is the first time that the internationally renowned, Bessie Award-winning choreographer presents her work in Hungary. The show is performed during November 25-26.

11pm - 6am: Acidmoon & DACS Presents Artefakt at LÄRM Artefakt is a collaboration between Dutch producers Robin Koek and Nick Lapien, who share a love for melancholic and hypnotic voodoo music.

Artefakt treats techno as an art form rather than a musical genre, exploring a scope that surpasses functional dance-floor tools and bangers. This merging of worlds manifests in a versatile nature that is audible in the narrative selection of tracks and DJ sets.Saturday

10am - 6pm: Hungarian Wine and Cheese Festival 2016 at Museum of Hungarian Agriculture Enjoy a wide assortment of Hungary’s finest harvest-season flavors when this annual food fair fills the halls of the Vajdahunyad Castle in City Park during November 26-27 between 10am and 6pm each day. Visitors can sample all kinds of recently bottled Magyar-made wines ranging from Chardonnay to Kékfrankosrosé to Portugieser, all to be savored with various locally made cheeses. Live entertainment and traditional wine-related ceremonies make this event a must-see spectacle for any true Hungarian-wine connoisseur.

10am - 7pm:
Microsoft PlayIT Show Budapest
at HungexpoThe PlayIT Show, taking place on November 26th at Budapest’s extensive Hungexpo fair center, is the successor of the Budapest Game Show, which was Hungary’s first real game expo.

PlayIT features programs for all ages and genders, who are interested in the world of IT, mobile, and video games, including a cosplay village, e-sport championships, an interactive retro console, alongside workshops, and all kinds of sport activities like darts or table football. All we can say is: play now!

11am - 8pm: Christmas Market at Four Seasons Hotel Gresham PalaceThe Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace welcomes merry crowds to their in-house Christmas Fair, set up in the very heart of Budapest’s most sumptuous Art Nouveau edifice, where the interior is now enhanced with creative decorations that are set to evoke a snow-dusted winter-forest scene. Visitors to this heated holiday bazaar can browse through select Magyar-made products ranging from delicate crystals to design bags to scrumptious local wintertime treats.

1pm - 7pm: Szimpla Kutya – A Dog-Friendly Christmas Fair at Szimpla KertOn Saturday, kutyabarat.hu (a local website featuring dog-friendly attractions in Hungary) and Szimpla Kert join forces to hold a canine-compatible Christmas fair, presenting high-quality pet food and assorted dog accessories, among many other exciting attractions to four-legged guests and owners.

2pm - 10pm:

Stylewalker Day&Night
at multiple locations
Sigh up for a stylish walking tour beginning at 2pm on Saturday, where visitors can enter many of Budapest’s local design stores and showrooms that await guests with design- and art-related programs and great discounts. During this edition of Stylewalker, the event’s theme is centered around consciousness.Sunday

10am - 9pm: Advent at Várkert BazaarEvery Sunday from November 27th through December 18th, Budapest’s beautifully restored neo-Renaissance Várkert Bazaar offers plenty of festive programs for families with children, including artisanal workshops, interactive children’s shows, dance performances, concerts, and much more.

10am - 1pm:
Palace Of Delights
at MüPa – Palace Of ArtsFamilies that want to spend time with creative and meaningful activities can immerse in varied attractions at the Palace of Delights, happening every Sunday at the Palace of Arts. Programs include children’s concerts, dance performances, and fairy-tale theater shows, alongside diverse games and other fun events.
10am - 4pm: Kiskertpiac (Fair) and DIY matinée at Anker’t Kiskertpiac is an organic fair, providing inspiration for plants, gastronomy, and design products for those who would like to lead a sustainable urban lifestyle, where nature lovers can browse through fresh plants, herbs, vintage-style flower decorations, alongside accessories for the garden, and local plant-based gastronomy products, including jams, syrups, and honey.
7pm - 11pm:

Skye & Ross from Morcheeba, Jónás Vera Experiment
at Dürer Kert Whether in solo or with Morcheeba, Skye Edwards and Ross Godfrey always enchant the Hungarian audience whenever they play here. They have been working together on a project called Skye & Ross for a while, and have already released an album in the beginning of autumn. Expect both Morcheeba classics and new tunes!
