A fascinating flash mob will make Gellért Hill literally sparkle with countless bulbs for a few minutes, providing a truly splendid sight for the people of the Pest side. On the Night of a Thousand Lights, everyone is welcome to climb up the hill with their camera or smartphone, and shoot a few photos looking out over the Pest side, illuminating the hill with flashes. Anyone with a flashbulb can join, as long as you can keep the light flow continuous for 5-10 minutes, so the strollers on the other side can take photos of this illuminating spectacle.

Anyone can join the fascinating flash mob, during which Gellért Hill will shimmer with a brightening blaze for a few minutes. "What if hundreds of people used their flashes at the same time standing on the hill, making it sparkle for a few minutes?! We think this would be the biggest flash mob of the Budapest summer! Join the event and let’s light up the hill together!” – so says the invitation. The organizers got the idea from the several strollers on Gellért Hill, who take pictures while wandering around at night. If you look up on the hill in the evening from the Danube Promenade, you can see plenty of camera flashes blinking as people take photos of Budapest from the Citadel.

If you would like to dedicate time and battery power to join this cause, all you need to do is walk up Gellért Hill with your camera and take a photo looking over the Pest side. If you don’t have a camera, or you’d prefer to just watch, it is recommended to make your way to the Pest-side shore in order to get a perfect view of the huge hill shimmering like a sparkler. The flash mob (which is truly a FLASH mob this time) will be organized only once, on Thursday, June 23rd, right after sunset, between 8:45pm and 8:55pm. As there are several walking paths on Gellért Hill, the organizers recommend the lengthy road stretching from Szent Gellért Square all the way up to the Citadel, as that is the most visible from the other side. The main thing is to be ready to shoot by 8:45pm!

The organizers expect a constant flow of flashes coming from the cameras for about 5-10 minutes, so that everyone who can see the hill will have enough time to take photos of the flash mob in action. If you wish to only watch, you can find a good spot somewhere on the lengthy street stretching from Elizabeth Bridge all the way to Petőfi Bridge, near Corvinus and the Bálna Budapest. In case of bad weather, the flash mob will be held the following day, on Friday.
