In many ways, Budapest’s popular Fogas Ház ruin pub serves as a 21st-century version of the Moulin Rouge in belle-époque Paris – both clubs are known for attracting creatively hedonistic crowds amid a picturesquely wild setting. Following the example of French visionary (and Moulin Rouge regular) Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, modern-day Magyar artist Levente Csordás is now illustrating the scene at every Wednesday-night Kimitrak party at Fogas Ház, forever immortalizing local characters in colorful pictures that later appear as the cover photo for the event’s Facebook page.

The party series called Kimitrak is held every Wednesday night at Fogas Ház, where local DJs (DJ Crimson, Bodoo, Suhaid, Waxman Pedró, Johnny Drama) spin records from evening till dawn. All the while, Hungarian artist Levente Csordás is there to observe the scene, making colorful illustrations of the partygoers in his unique style. One of the local DJs asked him to draw cover images for the event’s Facebook page, and the artist gladly agreed, so now every reveler has the chance to become the face of Kimitrak...

at least for a week.

Just like Toulouse-Lautrec, Levente strives to creatively capture the distinct spirit of each party in his artworks, featuring recognizable portraits of the people in attendance – so if you visit Kimitrak events frequently, you might want to check out the page to see if you or your friends were depicted in one of the illustrations.
