There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – dance parties, exhibits, live music, cocktails, performances, and more – but here is our pick of the bunch for the imminent 72 hours or so:

2pm - : Budapest Wine Festival 2015 at Buda CastleSeptember 9th marks the start of the 24th Budapest Wine Festival in the Buda Castle.
After two harsh years of dreary weather during this annual fete, the festival continues with endless enthusiasm to organize an event that is as great as ever...

so forget about whining, get wining! Enjoy friends, a mesmerizing panorama, the best wines of Hungary, concerts, and playful programs.
3pm - : Főzdefeszt & Street Food Market at Városliget The 10th-anniversary Főzdefeszt will be held during September 11-13. In addition to the usual lineup, the organizers prepared plenty of premieres and novelties as well, and for the first time, they also invited craft brewers from abroad. The food lineup is now refreshed as well, so we can expect new street-food stalls in addition to the usual hits – like Befaló Bill, Zing Burger, Vörös Homár, and so on.

11pm: Bladerunnaz Present – Ed Rush, Skynet (Classic Set) at Akvárium Klub Ben Settle, or better known as Ed Rush, is one of the current leaders of the new-school drum and bass. One of the originators to bring back the dark sounds of drum and bass and push it to new levels, Ed Rush continues to make waves with each new release. And we haven’t mentioned his longtime collaboration with Optical, with whom he founded one of the most important labels of the genre: Virus Recordings. But for now, his partner in crime will be Skynet, whose labels (Nvision, Skynet and Discrete) and releases (Voyager, Clockwork) also had a huge impact on the drum-and-bass scene. Saturday

9am - 8pm: Energia NAP at Flórián Square In today’s fast-paced world, people do not care enough about their health and the environment.
Energia NAP (“Energy DAY”) was created to oppose this phenomenon, with two main directions:

renewable green energies and health promotion. At this event, we will be able to learn about renewable energy, health, and conscious nutrition.

During the event, visitors will receive stamps in their point books in exchange for their activities, and receive saplings and other green gifts in exchange, so that they can directly contribute to a healthier Earth. 10am - :

“Johannes Aquila… by his hands”
at KunsthalleThe exhibition entitled “Johannes Aquila… by his hands” is dedicated to the outstanding figure of medieval fresco painting, who worked in the Őrség-Muraköz/Medzimurje County-Styria triangle. Two self-portraits are known from Johannes Aquila dating from the late Anjou age (late 14th century), held in high esteem by the curator of the present exhibition as the first preserved self-portraits signed by the artist.

Noon - 8pm: Balilla Showroom Launch & End of Summer Sale at Balilla Showroom (1084, Budapest, Német street 13, II/5) The opening is going to be spiced up with a special offer, as all jewelry will be available with a 30% to 70% discount! In addition to the old favorites, pieces of the new, sweet winter Candy Crush collection will also be presented.

8pm - 9.30pm: Wolfgang Muthspiel Trio at MüPa (Palace Of Arts) Wolfgang Muthspiel is one of the most influential guitarists of his generation. The 30-odd albums that he has released to date largely contain his own compositions, making him a well-established composer to boot. Having began his studies on classical guitar, Muthspiel is able to express his musical ideas on acoustic guitar with as much ease as he improvises on an electric instrument.

In the trio, he performs with bassist Larry Grenadier, and either Blade or Jeff Ballard on drums.

11pm - 4am: Carpenter Brut, Lazerpunk, Quixotic at A38 ShipAt first glance, Carpenter Brut’s influences are ’80s TV shows, and B movies loaded with synthesizer music. However, listening to his homemade EPs, the listener may discern a black-metal background, a crush for Dario Argento, and a force-fed religious education. This would explain his Satanic mood, his passion for kitschy sounds, and his adoration for all kinds of enjoyment. Whatever his influences, Carpenter Brut does not lack the talent to create in-your-face vintage tracks – as you’ll experience them on this night.Sunday

10am - 7pm:

Sunday Picnic
at Akvárium
Do you like picnics? Are you free on Sunday? Would you be up for drinking great wine with friends and sympathetic people that you’ve just met? Would you like to enjoy the view and the sunset at one of the most popular meeting places in the capital? If your answer to all of these questions is yes, then you have to go to this picnic at Akvárium! Yoga, board games, special programs for children, concerts – all for your pleasure!
11am - :

30th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon
at Városliget The 30th edition of the Budapest Half Marathon is coming up this weekend.
What is the reason for this event being the most popular half-marathon in Hungary (or possibly even Central Europe)? Is it because the route of the race passes by three World Heritage Sites? Or because the runners are cheered on by spectators and musicians from the side of the road? Or perhaps because the race takes place when most runners are in top form? Who knows?

6pm - : Lay-Up! – Alexander Saykov, Kisszántó, Mesterházy, Peter Bernath at Corvintető Kosmische musik for afternoon chilling: don’t dance, but sit down on a sofa and let the music take you to a whole new galaxy. The soundtrack will be comprised of deep house, pulsing dubtechno, acid, and ambient. Your ears will surely love it, and let’s not forget that every Lay-Up! comes with real eye-candy visuals. A laid-back way to spend the last day of the week.
8pm - : Warcry, Rivers Run Dry, Dog Attack at Dürer KertWarcry is a hardcore, punk, and crust band based in San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, featuring Todd Burdette of Tragedy and His Hero Is Gone fame on vocals, and guitars from Grant of Bay Area hardcore machines Talk Is Poison.
