Even though tattoos became a relatively accepted way of self-expression recently, some people will still give inked people a weird eye for having colorfully decorated skin. Dispelling prejudices and raising tattoo art into the artistic canon are the recently opened Fine Heart Tattoo's main goals. The parlor is not just one of Budapest's coolest tattoo places, but also offers so much more than inking its customers' skin: there will be exhibits, workshops, common painting, and maybe parties, too.

The 120 square metre Fine Heart Tattoo will offer a gallery, a communal space, and workshops besides tattooing, and its main goal is to put an end to annoying tattoo-related questions, like "Are you compensating for something?". By the way, the parlor is the happy continuation of Mágus Tattoo's story, which has been known for its openness and creative community for quite some years now. The group's phoenix-like rebirth was necessary because of their increase in numbers and ambitions. The new parlor is a perfect place for the artists to achieve their goals: the reforming of the tattooist profession, raising tattoo art into the artistic canon, and of course, creating a lot of spectacular tattoos. Mágus Tattoo remains unchanged in name at Szent István Boulevard, the only thing different is the crew.

Fine Heart stands out with its size and wide spaces at first look: the parlor has a huge waiting room, a down- and upstairs inking room. The walls are full with paintings, decorated skateboards, and reading material related to the topic - these may or may not help with the gut-wrenching excitement caused by the distant sound of the tattoo machines and the impending pain. As a side note, yes, tattooing hurts a little, but the pain isn't unbearable, so there is actually nothing to be afraid of. The dentist is far worse.

In addition to its dimensions, there is another thing Fine Heart is different in: its artists believe that tattooing is a collaboration between artist and consumer. We think so too: tattooing and getting tattooed are equally hard. It's not about going in with an idea an getting it for some money; openness is very important on both sides so that the customers will not grow ashamed of their tattoo by the time they become old.

The current Fine Heart crew looks as the following: Kovács Tibor, the captain and marketing hotshot, who started his career with artistic graffiti and designing different visuals; Berinkey Kati, the proud master graduate of the University of Art and Design, and creator of Fine Heart's identity design; Carlos Breakone, a graphic designer (and graduate of the University of Art and Design, as well) who came from the world of graffiti and made the parlor's 4x2,5 meter tall welcome board; Lipka Lilla from Kecskemét, who prefers a more sketchy, graphical line of tattooing (which is becoming increasingly popular in Budapest); and Haraszti Sándor, the master of neo-traditional images who returned from England (and his previous workplace) just recently. Since all of them represent a different segment of tattoo art, it is worth considering which artist we choose for getting an everlasting memory from.

Future plans include continuing their exhibitions that began in Mágus. Which is really important because these combine art with tattoos (it is not called tattoo art for nothing), bring together new communities, and show that Google and DeviantArt are not the only places with inspiration. The bigger space will also allow the parlor to organize parties, common paintings, and workshops.

By the way, the name is also important, since Fine Heart sounds a lot like Fine Art, which the crew would like to put on their customers' skin whilst putting their heart and soul into each work. We hope that we could get you in the mood for a tattoo.
