ZUGLÓ JAPANESE GARDEN DAY

The Japanese Garden in Zugló is the first of its kind in Hungary, designed as an archaic flatland tea garden inspired by the Muromachi period. Located next to the Márton Varga Horticultural and Land Surveying Technical School, the garden is especially beautiful in spring, during cherry blossom season. On 18 April, the Zugló Japanese Garden Day takes place, featuring guided tours, garden walks, a book presentation, and martial arts demonstrations.

I BIKE BUDAPEST 2026

The Hungarian Cyclists' Club is organising the 11th I Bike Budapest ride on 18 April, inviting everyone who supports a more bike-friendly capital to take part. As part of the event, participants can cycle through the city in a way that's rarely possible – along a designated, car-free route, joined by tens of thousands of fellow cyclists. The aim of the ride is to highlight the importance of transport developments that contribute to a more sustainable and liveable Budapest.

BERLIN X BUDAPEST AT SALT

Between 15 and 19 April, SALT Budapest and Berlin's Horváth Berlin will swap kitchens. During this time, guests in Budapest can experience a specially curated ten-course, vegetable-focused menu created by Sebastian Frank and his team. Rather than relying on luxury ingredients, the menu highlights precision, creativity, and the role of time, transforming simple components into thoughtful, character-driven dishes.

NOSTALGIA POP-UP MARKET

Held on 19 April as part of Johanna Kügerl's exhibition, this one-day pop-up market brings together prints, postcards, embroidered pieces, and small design objects alongside a selection of local producers. Expect honey, fermented goods, ceramics, vintage glassware, and retro-inspired items, all set in a more intimate, home-like atmosphere. It's a mix of design, food, and nostalgia, with a strong focus on local creators and small-scale brands.

EATS & BEATS: TOKYO BREEZE

Eats & Beats launches a new event series at Fény Street Market, each edition spotlighting the flavours and atmosphere of a different country. The first event, held on 19 April, focuses on Japan, bringing together food, design, and music in one place. Visitors can sample Japanese-inspired dishes and drinks from a wide range of local venues, while also browsing stands by contemporary designers, ceramicists, and independent brands. Alongside the gastro offering, workshops and creative programmes add another layer to the experience, all set to a soundtrack of DJs and live performances throughout the day. Entry is free.
