City Park, Római-part, Normafa… Budapest is full of green spaces where dogs feel at home. But where should you eat and drink once your pup has tired itself out?
Wave and Wine Terrace and Bistro
A little further from the bustling Római-part, close to Pünkösdfürdő Beach, you’ll find the Wave and Wine Terrace and Bistro. The name gives off a fancy vibe, but the atmosphere is easy-going — just a bit more polished than the usual riverside spots. The menu is bistro-style, complemented with laid-back beachside street food. Dogs are welcome both in the area and at the venue — a perfect match for water-loving pups and wine-loving owners.

Pierre′s specialty coffee & sweet treats
Marina-part is an idyllic spot, and tucked among the modern, tidy apartment blocks you’ll find Pierre’s — a big favourite with local dog walkers. Not stray dogs, of course, but plenty of French bulldogs: the café itself is named after Pierre, a black-and-white-and-brown frenchie. At the counter you’ll find treats not only for humans but also for four-legged guests — and any pup that walks nicely can count on a reward! For owners, it’s all about the speciality coffee and sweets, though pastries and sandwiches are also on offer.

Hippie Island
Once known as Rabbit Island before the 14th century, today Margaret Island is filled with the happy sounds of barking dogs — there’s even a dog school here. Whether you come for training or just a long stroll, most places welcome pups, too. Hippie Island greets four-legged friends with open arms (and treats), while their owners can enjoy everything from breakfast to dinner in a cheerful, colourful setting.

Budapest Garden
The old Görzenál is now buzzing with beach volleyball, thanks to the well-equipped courts at Budapest Garden. Dogs can’t dig around in the sand, but the shady areas are full of little corners to explore and bushes to sniff. This laid-back garden is always lively — not just with people, so it’s best to come with a friendly, social pup. Alongside cold drinks, you’ll also find tasty bites at the food trucks, from lángos to Neapolitan pizza.

Salve BudaPart
All Salve venues are dog-friendly, and on the BudaPart side you can also stroll with your pup. While dogs aren’t allowed on Kopaszi-gát itself, the spaces between and behind the apartment blocks are surprisingly open — perfect for a good run, with plenty of great eateries around, too. And after all that exercise, what better way to round off the walk than with a thin-crust Neapolitan pizza?

Normafa Ski Lodge Restaurant & Terrace
It’s always a little cooler up at Normafa, but the dogs don’t mind — there’s plenty of space to run around while their owners decide between a coffee or a cocktail on the Ski Lodge terrace, which even won a special Elanco award in 2024’s Dog-Friendly Venue of the Year competition. And it’s not just about drinks: the menu features modern bistro dishes as well as Hungarian favourites. At sunset, the terrace offers a one-of-a-kind view of the city glowing in gold — a perfect photo spot, with or without your pup.

Pántlika
City Park is doggy paradise: wide open spaces and plenty of pups — what more could you ask for? Maybe a little treat for the owners, like a cold beer or spritzer after all that walking. At long-standing Pántlika you’ll find food too, but most people come here to sit down for a drink in the park. Just be warned, at peak times getting a table isn’t easy — in which case a blanket and a picnic will do the trick. At least you won’t need to bring your own glasses.

Kertem
Kertem is one big garden, which after a few moves has now settled on the edge of District X. The scent of Balkan burgers and ćevap might drive dogs wild, but the tasting is left to the owners — playtime, however, has no limits! Like at Budapest Garden, there’s plenty of space to wander, meet new friends, and sniff around. Just note that on some evenings, concerts and DJ sets can make things a little noisier.
