ŐSZKERT 2026 - AUTUMN GARDENING DAYS AT THE BUDA ARBORETUM
Start the weekend surrounded by autumn colours at the Buda Arboretum, where Őszkert returns from 9 to 11 October. The three-day gardening event is a good excuse for a leafy escape without leaving the city, whether you're looking for new plants and gardening inspiration or simply fancy an autumn wander through one of Buda's greenest corners.

NATIONAL RESTAURANT WEEK 2026
If Friday night calls for dinner somewhere new, National Restaurant Week is still going strong. Running until 18 October, the event brings special set menus to more than 150 restaurants around Hungary, including plenty of Budapest spots. It's a good opportunity to finally try somewhere that's been sitting on your restaurant list, perhaps at a friendlier price than usual.

JOSHUA IDEHEN AT TURBINA
On 9 October, British-Nigerian poet, writer and performer Joshua Idehen will make his Hungarian debut at Turbina Cultural Centre. A prominent name in contemporary spoken word, he has collaborated with acts including Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming and Benin City, and more recently gained wider recognition through his project with Ludvig Parment. Idehen's performances combine spoken-word pieces exploring personal and social themes with electronic, club-inspired sounds.

COFFEE DAY 2026
Saturday morning can start with plenty of caffeine as Coffee Day returns to Millenáris for its 14th edition. The day brings together established names and newer roasters from Hungary's coffee scene, with unlimited tastings of coffees you won't usually find on supermarket shelves. There will also be teas, chocolates and spirits to sample, plus demonstrations and workshops for anyone keen to learn a little more about what goes into a really good cup.

HELLO PIAC
Hello Piac returns to Erzsébet tér on 10 October, bringing Hungarian designers and small businesses together in the heart of the city. You can browse bags, clothes, jewellery, home décor, natural cosmetics, handmade food products, children's accessories and sustainable alternatives, all directly from their makers. The fair also puts a focus on conscious shopping and products made by people with disabilities. Entry is free, and dogs are welcome too.

VINGARDIUM IN THE CITY - WALKING WINE TASTING IN BÁLNA
On 10 October, wine takes centre stage once again at Bálna Budapest with the return of Vingardium in the City. The walk-around tasting brings together a selection of Hungarian wineries, giving visitors the chance to explore their wines at their own pace and meet the winemakers in person. It's just as suited to curious beginners as seasoned wine lovers, with food and music accompanying the tastings and the Danube panorama providing a fitting backdrop for the evening.

BUDAPEST MARATHON FESTIVAL 2026
The Budapest Marathon Festival, one of the city's biggest autumn running events, returns for its 41st edition on 10 and 11 October. Alongside the classic marathon, the weekend offers plenty of shorter distances, walks and urban hikes, with options for beginners, families and groups of friends. On Saturday, races range from 500 metres to 10 kilometres, while Sunday includes the 30-kilometre and full marathon distances, with the option to run individually, in pairs or as part of a relay team. The routes pass some of Budapest's UNESCO World Heritage sites and iconic city views, with live music and cheering crowds adding to the atmosphere along the way.

AUTUMN PICNIC IN ETYEK 2026
Autumn is arriving in Etyek with wine, food, music and plenty of harvest-season atmosphere at the Autumn Picnic in Etyek. Taking place on 10 and 11 October, just 30 minutes from Budapest, the popular wine-region event sees local wineries and restaurants open their doors for a weekend of tastings, sparkling wines, food and live music. This year's line-up includes Péterfy Bori & Love Band, Animal Cannibals, Co Lee, Imago Mundi, Ham Ko Ham and Dumaszínház, all set against Etyek's colourful vineyards and autumn scenery.
