Not long ago, the concept of “open-mic nights” – when any performer is welcome to take the stage for a few minutes, regardless of their experience or skill level – was completely unknown in Budapest’s nightlife scene… but after a few local musicians established these events at several bars citywide in recent years, open-mic nights are now a regular after-hours attraction in the Magyar metropolis. The atmosphere and spirit of every open-mic event varies dramatically depending on the host venue, but all of them provide unpredictably entertaining nights out for no entry fee.
