The exhibition entitled Fragagments
can be viewed at the MAMŰ Gallery between 15 January and 5
February. The title misspelling is deliberate, and explained by the following
quote:
"Dismemberment is a
mythopoetic rendering of the process of fragmentation and dissolution, which
may lead to differentiation and renewal. Belonging to the family of death
mysteries, dismemberment calls forth fertility and resurrection, freeing libido
by breaking down defensive structures until only the bones of the personality
remain, upon which a new body is created. The magic of this process is gained
by the sacrifice of finitude and stability. Surviving dismemberment initiates
one into the intimacy between sacrifice and creation, suffering and
transformation," (Mircea Eliade,
Shamanism. New York, 1964).
