if we want to be more Hungarian – was voted word of the year by the editors of the Oxford dictionaries. Before that, a photo of one, made by oneself, was simply a self portrait. What’s more, the genre had an ambivalent reputation; we felt sorry that they had no one to take a photo of them.
To put it simply, a selfie is the digital pollen of the ego. KoPé, the creator of the fake-photo-series titled “
Alternative Budapest
” saw enough selfies in this life to be able to use the empty pictures of the “Self” as a criticism of society – how they show their backs to great events, how they cover a big part of it with themselves. So he will show how these photos paint a fake reality - instead of showing what’s important.
