Robert Glasper
is one of today's brightest stars of the piano. His jazz-based music keeps referencing a wide range of styles, from rock to hip-hop. Black Radio, the 2012 R&B album he released with his quartet, The Experiment, won a Grammy Award the next year.
Glasper's fourth record was a great surprise, and was eagerly received. Reviewers were lost for words, and a renowned critic called Black Radio the album of the year 2012; the conservative Downbeat featured it on its front page, and the New York Times praised it in a long article. Glasper offered a new take on the genre of
jazz
, and won it a new audience. Many consider him the future of jazz, which he usually dismisses by saying "no, I am here now.”
