For the first time,
Müpa Budapest
will play host to an
international choral festival
running over several days. The idea and basis for the event was provided by the Énekel az ország (The Country is Singing) project, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and each year gives several hundred amateur singers the chance to perform major oratorical works.
The event turns international this year and the concert will also be complemented by additional programmes featuring the most important and interesting works from every genre and era of music history. The series of events centres around the joy of singing in unison, with concerts by domestic and international choirs joined by workshops and interactive children's programmes, and we hope to also inspire the audience to break into song in various ways. We wholeheartedly recommend these events to families, schoolchildren and all lovers of choral music as we are sure everyone will find a musical treat to suit their tastes.

The opening concert of the festival, the
International Choral Gala
, invites the audience, with the help of choirs arriving from the four corners of the earth, to get to know the colourful culture of choral music and its diverse repertoire extending from America to Kazakhstan, and from Sweden to Austria. The cream of American gospel music will be heard on the programme, but we will also hear yodelling , effervescent Kazakh folk and even a light-hearted choral parody. One thing is certain, the concert is sure to provide every music lover with a wonderfully entertaining experience.
