Project EUnderground aims to bring history closer to young citizens by revealing the hidden cultural heritage of former Socialist countries, and exploring the underground cultural movements in Eastern Europe from 1948 to 1989.

The cross-national cultural festival remembers the victims of censorship and commemorates the oppressed artists and the cultural opposition movements in the Soviet bloc. In so doing, the festival also promotes today’s democratic EU values. Programmed are art performances by dissident artists from former Socialist countries, concerts, a display of student samizdat journals, public readings, interactive debates, exhibitions, film projections and more.
