Budapest
. The first regional Advent fair and
Balaton tasting
, the joint project of Balaton hospitality service providers taking place on December 14 at the
City Park Ice Rink
, is shaping up to be one of the most exciting events in the Advent period. The main attraction of the event: setting up a
Christmas tree of Balaton wines
on the ice.

The most well known
Balaton winemakers
and farmers will offer their products at a special, salon-like fair in the ceremony hall of the
Ice Rink
. In exchange for purchasing a ticket, visitors to the fair can sample almost 40 different kinds of Balaton wines, buy vintages for the holidays at discounted per bottle prices, and win a lakeside weekend getaway. If you are looking to surprise your loved ones with a winter Balaton experience, you can book at preferential rates with the tourism service providers at the event.
The winemakers of the Balatoni Kör (Balaton Circle) will erect a spectacular Christmas tree from bottles of Balaton wines on the ice, serving great vintages to the skaters. The event will be opened by

, deputy state secretary for tourism. The aim of the
Christmas tree of wines
and the “Balaton is the best gift at Christmas as well!” slogan is to raise awareness about the beauty of Balaton in the winter and the exciting selection of products.
The organizers wish to encourage Balaton lovers to gift the Balaton experience to each other, be it in the form of handcrafted products, a lakeside New Year’s Eve celebration, a spa weekend or a wine excursion. Apart from the Christmas tree of wines, the winemakers will come together to light the candle for the second Sunday of Advent on the Advent wine wreath constructed with a novelty design, which will be followed by a short Christmas celebration in the ceremony hall of the Ice Rink, the location of the Advent fair. “hipster” Santa
, who will be the mascot of the event, fakutyas (a unique hybrid of a sled and a chair), and Balaton bonbons, which will make their debut at the event, giving visitors a chance to sample everything Balaton has to offer covered in chocolate.
