Priceless treasures, the weapons of conquerors, artificially deformed skulls discovered in graves, and the legendary story of the Hun Empire - all brought together in one exhibition centred on Attila, ruler of the Huns. Considered one of the most significant exhibitions of recent decades, the show is on view at the Hungarian National Museum until 12 July.

The temporary exhibition, titled Attila, presents the life and legacy of the Hun ruler and stands out even in an international context. Through nearly 400 artefacts from 64 museums across 13 countries, the exhibition evokes Attila’s figure and his era, uniquely exploring the relationship between the myths surrounding him and historical reality. Drawing on the results of archaeology, history, art history, anthropology, archaeogenetics, and contemporary interpretations, the exhibition builds a bridge between the lasting memory of the legendary Hun ruler in both Eastern and Western cultures, while presenting the many ways his figure has been interpreted throughout history.
