A dialogue between body, structure, and light
Created especially for W Budapest, Face to Space explores how human presence interacts with its surroundings. Tombor, celebrated for his distinctive portraiture and visual storytelling, brings his lens into a three-dimensional realm — where images no longer remain static.
Under ever-shifting light and colour, the portraits subtly change their expression and depth. As visitors move through the space, the reflections and perspectives shift too, making every glance a new discovery.
The aim was to make the viewer an active participant, says Zoltán Tombor. The movement of the visitor reshapes the composition and meaning of each image, creating an ongoing dialogue between the human form and architectural structure.
W Budapest: a creative canvas
Housed in the beautifully restored Drechsler Palace on Andrássy út, W Budapest has quickly become a cultural hub where design, art, and fashion intersect. The Courtyard has already seen remarkable collaborations, including AERON’s Mimosa installation, Nanushka’s showcase, and ROADS by KATA SZEGEDI during Budapest Central European Fashion Week.
Our collaboration with Zoltán Tombor celebrates W Budapest as more than a hotel – it’s a creative canvas where design, art, and emotion come to life,
adds Patrick Luk, Marketing Director of W Budapest.
When and where to see it
Face to Space is open to the public during Budapest Design Week from 9 to 19 October at the W Budapest Courtyard. The installation offers a moment to pause, reflect, and experience art as a living, breathing conversation — between people, light, and space.
