Good news for summer in Budapest! Starting the last weekend of June, you can once again enjoy a supervised swim in the Danube at Roman Beach.

As posted on Facebook, this popular spot is reopening on 27th June on Roman Beach thanks to consistently good water quality, as monitored by the company overseeing Budapest's thermal baths and springs.

In fact, there's even talk of another free Danube beach opening later this season. While a location was previously being scouted, a recent Facebook post points to Árasztó-part as the most probable spot, with water quality testing already underway there too.

This move to revive Danube swimming has naturally brought up discussions about bringing back the much-loved Danube Baths, which were a huge hit around the turn of the last century. However, there haven't been any further updates on that particular development yet.
