The winners of the 2024 Pinball Community Awards (aka The TWIPYs) were just announced – and a Budapest location snagged an award too.

If the flickering lights and jingling sounds of arcade classics like Pac-Man, Godzilla, and The Roller Coaster fill you with nostalgia, you might just be a pinball lover. And if that's the case, the Budapest Pinball Museum is a must-visit next time you're in the Hungarian capital.

Tucked away in the 13th district, this quirky spot is an interactive, permanent exhibition showcasing the evolution of pinball – from its 19th-century predecessors to the most cutting-edge tables of the 21st century. Picture non-stop fun with 130 machines spread across nearly 400 square meters.

And now, it's not just us telling you to pop into this awesome museum –  the TWIPY Awards agree. This annual, fan-voted celebration of all things pinball is organised by the This Week In Pinball, an American magazine covering the scene. With categories ranging from The Content Creator of the Year to Best Game Launch & Reveal (check them out here), the Budapest Pinball Museum snatched second place in the Best European Locations category. That’s out of 40 top spots across Europe, with only the Dutch Pinball Museum ranking higher – so a huge congrats is in order! And the museum's celebrating in style: by hosting a pinball competition on 1 April. And it's open to everyone.
