As the next step in Budapest Airport’s ongoing developments, the bridge leading to Terminal 2 and the curbside area in front of the building are getting a refresh. That means you won’t be able to hop straight out of a taxi at Departures until the end of June – so planning a little extra time to reach the terminal is definitely a smart move.

If you're flying from Budapest Airport (Ferenc Liszt International Airport), heads up – some upcoming changes might affect your travel plans. From 20 February 2025 to the end of June 2025, the departure (upper) level will be closed to traffic

That means no taxis, private cars, or even the 100E shuttle bus can drop you off there. The arrivals (lower) level will still be accessible but with limited space for pickups and drop-offs. Plan accordingly and leave yourself some extra time

The good news? All airport car parks will remain open during the revamp. Budapest Airport recommends using Terminal Parking (marked with green signs) or City Break Parking (purple signs) if you're arriving by car. Both, along with the curbside car park, offer free parking for up to 5 minutes – twice a day.

If you're planning to catch 100E bus (Airport Express) from the city centre, be prepared for a longer walk to Departures. Until June 2025, the bus will arrive at the outer curbside of Arrivals on the lower level instead of the now-closed upper level. However, departures to the city centre will remain unchanged, leaving from the inner curbside at Arrivals. Buses not operated by BKK will not be permitted to enter the departure level but may use the Bus Terminal instead.

During the refurbishment, parking for passengers with reduced mobility holding a disabled parking card will be available on the arrivals (lower) level. The spacious lifts in Terminal 2 will remain fully operational, and Budapest Airport will continue to provide assistance for passengers with special needs throughout this period. While it’s a good idea to allow extra travel time and stay mindful of changing traffic conditions, Budapest Airport asks all passengers to be extra cautious and follow the updated road signs.
