If you're in Budapest with kids, the Children's Railway is a must! This unique mode of transport connects some of the prettiest spots in Buda Hills. Not to mention that it's run by schoolchildren – except for the driving part, surely. And the festive season brings extra cheer: for several years now, the trains have been adorned with special lights and Christmas decorations, and this year’s 'Santa Train' is no exception, complete with a giant Santa leading the way.
Running until January, these festive trains operate on most service days, making them perfect for a winter outing or an Advent season adventure. It's worth pairing the ride with a scenic walk, too. Check the timetable here!
