Friss Kakas Animated Film Days

The Friss Kakas Animated Film Days are back with another exciting lineup for movie lovers on October 4th and 5th at Toldi Cinema. Alongside the latest graduate films from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, you'll also catch works showcased at international festivals, plus a mix of fresh and classic Hungarian animated films. You'll get a sneak peek into Hungarian and global animation's hottest trends and styles. In addition to screenings, it's a one-of-a-kind chance to not only enjoy the films but also meet the creators and get a behind-the-scenes look at their work.

Дeva concert

Дeva's music is a unique blend of atmospheric, soft sounds, pulsing basslines, and enchanting multi-layered mantras drawn from the mystical world of Hungarian folk songs. After releasing several singles, her debut album, Csillag, dropped in 2022, earning her the prestigious Music Moves Europe Award, as well as Petőfi Radio's Best Female Artist award. This time, she'll be wrapping up the summer with a concert at Várkert Bazár on October 4th. If you're in the mood for something truly magical, this is the show to catch!

100th Food Truck Show

Food lovers, rejoice! In celebration of the 100th Food Truck Show, the country's top food trucks will gather on Vámház körút, near Liberty Bridge on the Pest side, on October 5th and 6th. You'll find the past decade's crowd favorites, award-winning trucks, and both old and new flavors to explore. The two-day festival also features workshops where you can learn how street food has transformed over the last 10 years – how burgers turned into smashed burgers, how Asian flavors became local hits, the rise of BBQ, and why churros have remained a fan favorite for a decade.

Buda Street Music Festival and Makers' Market

On October 5th and 6th, the most talented street musicians will compete at Fény Utca Market during the first-ever Buda Street Music Festival. Expect a real party vibe at the market this weekend, with street food vendors offering a wide range of food and drinks. To top it off, Sunday will feature the last outdoor Makers' Market of the season, where you can browse products from local designers while enjoying live music.

Greek Brunch

For two mornings, Dobrumba is bringing the sunny flavors of Greece to us. On October 5th and 6th, start your day slowly with a relaxed Mediterranean breakfast in the cszy, communal atmosphere of the restaurant. The special menu features traditional dishes like Bouyiourdi, a baked feta with peppers and tomatoes and the Greek favorite, Spanakopita, a spinach pie. And if you've got a sweet tooth, there's baklava too!

Factory Festival

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Óbuda Stocking Factory, and to celebrate, they're hosting an all-night party on October 5th. The festivities kick off in the afternoon with a music matinee, BBQ, and beer tasting on the terrace in collaboration with Maister Brewery. Down in the basement, you can check out a photo exhibition, talks, and presentations, plus the team from Játszóterem will be hosting a hands-on 'analog gadget workshop'. Then, from 10 pm, the ETEM birthday party takes over Fabrika, where top-notch techno beats and stellar performers will set the vibe – mathching the uniqueness of this iconic space.

Brunch and wardrobe Sale

Újbuda's health-conscious eatery Greenhabit is hosting a wardrobe sale this Sunday, spoiling you with not only delicious bites but a clothes fair. Fashion influencers Kitti Czene, Szilvi Molnár-Szilágyi, Niki Nagy, Odett Kármán, Vivien Nagy, and Szonja Gresa bring fabulous clothing pieces to the event, and you can browse the racks with a mimosa in hand.

Omara Portuondo (CUB) concert

Omara Portuondo, the legendary Cuban and Latin music icon, is bringing her farewell tour to Budapest on October 6th at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna. At 93 years old, she continues to perform, and this special concert will span her entire career as a heartfelt goodbye. Though she gained global recognition at the age of 67 as the only female member of the Buena Vista Social Club, her solo career has firmly placed her among the greatest names in world music.

 Cinema: Pelican Blue

If you are up for watching a Hungarian movie, we've got some good news: Pelican Blue will be screened at Budapest's best repertory cinema this Sunday. It's a rare gem, a blend of documentary and animation, equally entertaining and informative. You can follow the adventures of our heroes, Ákos, Laci, and Petya, who decide to see the world after the fall of theIron Curtain. Fuelled by their chemistry knowledge, they forged train tickets using Pelikan blue carbon paper, a key tool in their operation. This act unlocked the gateway to Europe, not just for them, but for many others who followed their lead.
