Craft Beer Festival in Óbuda

Beer lovers and music enthusiasts, rejoice! From August 23rd to 25th, head to Óbuda's Fő tér (main square) for an exciting beer festival. Surely enough, you'll have to pay for the craft beers, but the atmosphere and fantastic concerts come free. The lineup includes Hungarian acts: Henri Gonzo and the Papírsárkányok, Platon Karataev, Solére, Mörk, Odett, Azorka and Söndörgő, Romengo, Csinszka, and Böbe will take the stage.

Várkonyi Csibészek – Gypsy Concert at Gólya

Get ready for a musical treat on August 23rd! The young artists of Várkonyi Csibészek, hailing from North-East Hungary, are taking the stage at local hangout Gólya. Their unique blend of progressive ethno-cool jazz and gypsy world soul bass is guaranteed to get you dancing. Having already conquered stages abroad, they’re sure to sweep you off your feet, too.

TE! Fest

Andrássy út, a World Heritage site, is about to jazz up! From August 23rd to 25th, Terézváros' cultural festival, TE! Fest, will take over with dozens of theatre performances, electrifying pop concerts, children's magic shows and puppet performances, civil organisations, a gastronomy quarter, a craft fair, and everything culture! This year's lineup is as vibrant as ever, with free concerts by Ivan & The Parazol and Hooligans, among others.

Ikarus Minifest

If you are a fan of vintage vehicles, this event is for you! The Hungarian Museum of Science, Technology and Transport is hosting the ever-popular Ikarus Minifest at its Northern Vehicle Repair Depot. It means three days of Ikarus legacy: from August 23rd to 25th, you can visit the museum's collection of buses, artefacts, and guest vehicles. These represent the brand's unparalleled history, which is still recognised worldwide, and feature the bus models that most defined public transportation during Ikarus's golden era.

Hungarian Bride Exhibition

This weekend is your last chance to step into the world of stunning wedding dresses and romantic – or even quirky – love stories at the Hungarian National Museum's temporary exhibition. At the Hungarian Bride, you can explore some serious wedding fashion (find gorgeous bridal gowns in the snow-white room), but also learn about the changing roles of women and the shifting perspectives on marriage and weddings.

Outdoor Cinema – Bob Marley: One Love

End the summer in style and watch a film outdoors, sitting on deckchairs! On August 24th, the drama 'Bob Marley: One Love' will be screened at Budapest Garden, which you can enjoy for free! Grab a drink, bring a blanket, and get to know more about the reggae icon's life, and maybe even sing along!

The Magic Donkey Inn Exhibition

If you're up for a quirky and contemporary exhibition at a local hidden gem, head over to the Longtermhandstand Gallery on the Buda side. The group exhibition Magic Donkey Inn features a mix of Hungarian and international works by renowned artists such as Ádám Ulbert, Áron Lőrincz, Zsófia Keresztes, Imre Bukta, and Christian Jankowski. This exhibition explores diverse forms of contemporary art, centered around mysticism and the absurd. It blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy, inviting you to dive into a world where everyday objects and symbols take on new meanings.

Salsa in the park

Since summer 2022, the Salsa in the Park dance program has been a hit, and it’s back on the outdoor stage at the stunning House of Music Hungary in the City Park. This Sunday, the Budapest-based band Son tres – with members from Venezuela, Cuba, and Colombia– will be setting the vibe with their passionate Latin rhythms. From salsa to bachata and cumbia, they’ll get everyone moving. Join the fun for free on August 25th!

Vegan chimney cake days

While in City Park, stop by Édes Mackó to indulge in their delicious chimney cakes – that being a Hungarian delicacy made from spit dough topped with sugar, cinnamon, and more. This weekend, they're rolling out special vegan options, featuring citrus and raspberry flavours. You can also top them off with vegan treats like plum jam, vanilla cream, and whipped cream.
