What's the Gelato Festival?
The Gelato Festival is a heated culinary competition and a celebration of the world's most delicious frozen dessert. Each year, the world's finest gelato artisans from around the globe flock to Italy to compete for the title of World Master. This year the title has been awarded to Ádám Fazekas, the man behind the top-notch confectionery and ice cream shop Fazekas Cukrászda,which, lucky you, happens to be in Budapest.

The family business made its way to Budapest from the countryside, settling in the 16th district – a lush residential area that's absolutely worth a visit. Here, you can sample the dangerously delicious, award-winning creations of the talented gelato chef. At Fazekas Cukrászda, you can also indulge in cakes and French pastries, but we say, head straight for the ice cream, and don't stop at one scoop! All the options are free from additives and artificial food colouring and come in various flavours – our forever favourite being anything with pistachio.
