Pedestrians and cyclists are taking over a key section of the lower embankment in downtown Pest at the weekends, starting on the March 15th long weekend. The road between Margaret Bridge and Elizabeth Bridge will be free of cars giving space to various events.

Last year, yoga events, second-hand clothing fairs, film screenings, exhibitions, concerts, and grill parties popped up on the embankment between Margaret Bridge and Elizabeth Bridge, which was declared car-free for the summer weekends. The brilliant initiative – reclaiming the riverside road for pedestrians, fostering community spirit and creating a lively atmosphere – will be back in full force soon, and we expect nothing less.

Kicking off even earlier than last year, you can walk, cycle, or skate on this section, basking in the sunshine and enjoying the stunning views (the Parliament on one side and the Buda Castle on the other) from the March 15th long weekend until October 23rd. What's even more exciting is the prospect of the car-free zone extending to weekdays during the summer, meaning you can experience it on an upcoming holiday to the Hungarian capital. You can follow the events on the Hungarian site or go for a walk and see what's happening yourself!
